X Layer

Build X
Hackathon

May 22, 23:59 - May 28, 23:59 UTC

Introduction

Uniswap v4’s Hook mechanism lets developers customize and extend the behavior of liquidity pools — making it possible to create new market structures, more asset types, and new functionality on top of the Uniswap Protocol.

Hook the Future is co-initiated by X Layer,

, and — Uniswap participates at the V4 protocol and ecosystem level, Flap collaborates as a V4 Hook ecosystem co-builder, and X Layer offers a low-cost, high-throughput onchain trading environment and growth pipeline.

Unlike any hackathon before it, Hook the Future doesn’ t end the moment the prizes are announced. We’ll keep lifting up the protocols and assets with real potential, pushing them in front of a wider audience — so the good stuff gets seen, and builders get remembered.

Requirements

  • All projects must be built around the Uniswap V4 Hook mechanism and deployed on X Layer.
  • No direction restrictions: DeFi Hooks (market making, fee tiers, derivatives, yield...) or application Hooks (asset issuance, social, gaming, AI...) are all welcome — be creative and define the limits of Hook yourself.
  • Deploy at least one V4 Pool and Hook contract on X Layer mainnet or testnet, and submit a verifiable contract address.
  • Social presence required: projects must have a dedicated X (Twitter) account. Tag @XLayerOfficial, @Uniswap, and @flapdotsh at submission, and post regularly throughout the event.
  • Existing projects may enter, but must complete substantial new development during the event — including new Hook contract logic.
  • Plně na dálku – bez nutnosti osobní účasti
  • Submit the project via before 23:59 UTC on May 28.

Rules

This hackathon uses a dual-track scoring system — AI judges and human judges evaluate on-chain data, code quality, innovation, and market potential. Both tracks are weighted and combined to determine final rankings.

Scoring weightsCriteria
InovaceHook logic design innovation: whether the submission creates new asset types, trading mechanisms, or novel use-case angles on top of the V4 curve, rather than simply porting existing protocols
Tržní potenciálWhether the Hook can support real trading demand and generate sustainable liquidity, users, and on-chain activity on X Layer
DokončeníActual output during the competition: whether the project is deployed, demonstrable, and verifiable on-chain; whether Hook behavior can be triggered by real transactions
Ukázkové video (bonus)Optional. Recommended duration: 1 - 3 minutes. Focus on explaining the Hook’s core mechanism and use cases

1. No Investment Solicitation. The Hackathon is (i) not an offer, recommendation, or solicitation of an offer to buy, sell, or otherwise deal in any digital asset; and (ii) not intended to provide any investment, trading, accounting, legal, tax, or other advice or recommendation. The Hackathon is not directed to, and not intended for distribution to or access by, any person in a jurisdiction where such distribution or access would be contrary to applicable laws or regulations. Persons accessing or participating in the Hackathon are required to inform themselves about and observe such restrictions. Digital assets are speculative and highly volatile, may become illiquid at any time, and are high-risk. Persons dealing in digital assets may lose the entire value of their assets.
2. Volatility of Digital Assets. The value of digital assets, including stablecoins, can and does fluctuate significantly. The value of any prize at the time a participant qualifies may differ materially from the value at the time of distribution. The Organiser makes no representation or warranty as to the value of any prize at any point in time.
3. No Endorsement of Strategies. Selection of a Participant as a winner or the appearance of a trading Skill in the Skill Quality Award does not constitute endorsement, recommendation, or warranty by the Organiser of that Participant, their trading strategy, or any associated product or service.
4. AI Agent Outputs. AI agents are software systems and may produce inaccurate, unintended, or financially adverse outputs. The Organiser makes no warranty as to the performance, accuracy, safety, or reliability of any AI agent used to execute trades in the Hackathon, and disclaims liability for any losses arising from agent conduct or output. Participants who use AI agents to execute trades do so at their own risk and bear full liability for all resulting transactions consistent with Section 4.10 of the OKX Web3 Ecosystem Terms of Service.
1.Organisation. The Hackathon is organised and administered by X Layer Technology Company Limited ("Organiser"). Any individual or legal entity that registers for the Hackathon ("Participant") agrees to be bound by these Terms. For the avoidance of doubt, where a Participant executes trades via an AI agent, the Participant is also bound by these Terms in respect of all transactions initiated by that agent.
2. Hackathon Period. The Hackathon shall be effective during the period stated on the Hackathon webpage, or as otherwise determined by the Organiser in its sole discretion ("Hackathon Period"). The Organiser reserves the right to extend, shorten, or otherwise vary the Hackathon Period.
3. Eligibility. Participation is open to individuals aged 18 or above (or the age of majority in their jurisdiction, whichever is higher) and to legal entities. The Hackathon is not open to "Restricted Persons" as defined in the OKX Web3 Ecosystem Terms of Service. The Hackathon may not be available in all jurisdictions; users in jurisdictions where the Hackathon is unavailable are ineligible to participate. The Organiser reserves the right to verify eligibility at any time.
4. Registration. Each Participant may register with only one account from one Agentic Wallet. Registration is completed via Agent conversation, which simultaneously records the Participants Solana and XLayer wallet addresses. Participants who register multiple accounts or wallets in circumvention of this restriction will be disqualified.
5. Participation Flow. To participate, each Participant must: (i) install and activate an Agentic Wallet; (ii) register for the Hackathon via Agent conversation; (iii) configure trading Skills by creating a new strategy, using an existing strategy, or discovering trending Skills in the Plugin Store; and (iv) execute on-chain trades using the Agentic Wallet during the Hackathon Period. Only trades initiated through the Agentic Wallet on Solana and XLayer during the Hackathon Period count toward rankings or prize eligibility.
6. Participant Liability for AI Agents. Each Participant who executes trades via an AI agent warrants that they have full authority to deploy that agent and accepts full and unconditional liability for all on-chain transactions, signatures, and smart contract interactions executed by the agent during the Hackathon, consistent with Section 4.10 of the OKX Web3 Ecosystem Terms of Service. AI agents are not, and shall not be deemed to be, parties to these Terms in their own right.
7. Agentic Wallets. Agentic Wallets used in the Hackathon must be self-custodial. The Organiser does not hold or otherwise control participants' private keys, recovery phrases, or wallet credentials at any time. Participants are solely responsible for the security of their Agentic Wallets.
8. Reward Tracks. The Hackathon comprises the following reward tracks, as further described on the Hackathon webpage:
- PNL Profit Amount Leaderboard — ranked by realized profit during the Hackathon Period; minimum cumulative valid trading volume threshold applies;
- PNL Return Rate Leaderboard — ranked by realized return rate during the Hackathon Period; same minimum threshold applies;
- Skill Quality Award — top trading Skills selected by a combination of AI automated scoring and manual review; and
- Participation Award — all participants who meet the minimum valid trading volume threshold will receive an equal share of the participation prize pool.
9. Ranking Methodology. Leaderboard rankings are determined by realized on-chain trading metrics recorded during the Hackathon Period. Only trades meeting the minimum valid trading volume threshold specified on the Hackathon webpage are counted. The Organisers' calculation of rankings and prize eligibility is final. The Organiser will retain historical leaderboard data, underlying trade records, and winner determination methodology in a queryable format for a minimum of five years.
10. Skill Quality Award. During the Hackathon Period, Participants may submit self-built trading Skills to the Organiser via GitHub link or file upload. Skills must use OnchainOS as the primary data source and trading tool. Submissions will be evaluated against criteria covering strategy completeness, risk control framework, execution reliability, user safety onboarding experience, and observability. Final winners are determined by a combination of AI automated scoring and manual review. Selection of a submission as a winner does not constitute endorsement or recommendation by the Organiser of that submission or any associated trading strategy.
11. Prizes and Distribution. Prize amounts and categories are as set out on the Hackathon webpage. Prizes will be distributed in the digital asset(s) specified by the Organiser, distributed to the winners nominated wallet address after the conclusion of the Hackathon and completion of all applicable verification steps.
12. Participation Awards. All eligible participants who meet the applicable trading threshold will receive an equal share of the applicable prize pool.
13. Sanctions Screening. All Participants and nominated prize-recipient wallet addresses will be screened against applicable sanctions lists, including including OFAC, EU, UK and UN consolidated lists at registration and again immediately prior to payout. The Organiser will not make any payout to a wallet address or Participant that appears on or is associated with any such list, and reserves the right to withhold or forfeit any prize on this basis without compensation.
14. Prohibited Conduct. In addition to the prohibitions set out in Section 5.7 of the OKX Web3 Ecosystem Terms of Service, Participants must not: (i) engage in wash trading, circular trading, or any trading strategy designed to artificially inflate recorded volume, profit, or return rate metrics; (ii) register or operate more than one account or wallet in circumvention of the single-account restriction; or (iii) coordinate trading activity with other Participants for the purpose of manipulating leaderboard rankings or prize eligibility. The Organiser reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any Participant found to have engaged in the foregoing conduct, to void any associated prize eligibility, and to exercise all available remedies under these Terms and the OKX Web3 Ecosystem Terms of Service.
15. Taxes. All prizes are stated and paid gross of taxes. Participants are solely responsible for any and all taxes, withholdings, fees, costs and expenses arising in connection with the receipt or use of any prize. Where required by law, the Organiser may report prize payments to relevant tax authorities, and Participants agree to provide any information reasonably required to enable such reporting.
16. Governing Terms. Participation is also subject to the OKX Web3 Ecosystem Terms of Service and the OKX Web3 DEX Interface User Agreement, which are incorporated by reference. In the event of conflict between these Terms and any other Organiser document relating to the Hackathon, these Terms prevail.
17. Modification. The Organiser reserves the right to interpret, modify, suspend, cancel, or terminate the Hackathon and/or any of these Terms at any time and for any reason without prior notice. The Organiser has sole discretion in the final interpretation and application of these Terms.
18. Language. If these Terms are made available in multiple languages, the English version shall prevail in the event of conflict.
19. Errors and Omissions. The Organiser expressly disclaims any and all responsibility and liability for any technical, typographical, editorial, or other error or omission in the Hackathon webpage, marketing materials, or these Terms.
